This position is for a Data Scientist providing technical and analytical expertise to the Hazard Mitigation Directorate for the development, design, and implementation of innovative data strategies for the Building Resilient Infrastructure in Communities (BRIC) grant program.

Qualifications

All qualifications and eligibility requirements must be met by the closing date of the announcement. To qualify for this position at the IC-11 level (starting salary $78,592), you must possess one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the IC-09 level in the Federal government, which has equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. Experience may be obtained in the Federal or Private Sector and must demonstrate all of the following:  Performing reporting, analytics, and data visualization; AND Ensuring accuracy throughout the collection and reporting of all data elements; AND   Preparing guidance documents for work plans OR Ph.D. or equivalent graduate degree OR  3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree OR LL.M., if related OR A combination of education and experience described above, which meets 100% of the qualification requirement. AND Degree: Mathematics, statistics, computer science, data science or field directly related to the position. The degree must be in a major field of study (at least at the baccalaureate level) that is appropriate for the position. or Combination of education and experience: Courses equivalent to a major field of study (30 semester hours) as shown in paragraph A above, plus additional education or appropriate experience. To qualify for this position at the IC-12 level (starting salary $94,199), you must possess one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the IC-11 level in the Federal government, which has equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. Experience may be obtained in the Federal or Private Sector and must demonstrate all of the following:  Performing reporting, analytics, and data visualization; AND Ensuring accuracy throughout the collection and reporting of all data elements; AND Preparing guidance documents for work plans; AND   Identifying problems and collecting information to find a resolution. AND Degree: Mathematics, statistics, computer science, data science or field directly related to the position. The degree must be in a major field of study (at least at the baccalaureate level) that is appropriate for the position. or Combination of education and experience: Courses equivalent to a major field of study (30 semester hours) as shown in paragraph A above, plus additional education or appropriate experience.
