You will serve as a LIBRARY TECHNICIAN in the NIMITZ LIBRARY of the U.S.NAVAL ACADEMY.

Duties

You will carry out all circulation desk procedures, including charging and discharging of a variety of types of library materials, maintaining circulation statistics, monitoring charge records, and searching for materials which appear to be overdue. You will monitor incoming and outgoing interlibrary loan requests using specialized interlibrary loan software and use a variety of library systems, databases, resources to locate and complete requests. You will be serving as first point of contact at the entrance to the library, answering questions about library services and facilities; and directing users to various service points and offices.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Performing library circulation procedures, practices and processes (e.g., Issuing library cards, updating user records and the charging in and out library material) in accordance with required procedures; 2) Assisting patrons at the circulation desk by answering questions. 3) Researching databases for bibliographic, publishing, and ownership information of books articles and other resources; and 4) Maintaining daily statistics in a spreadsheet to track information.
