About the Position: Position is an Administrative Support Assistant for the US Army Corps of Engineers, Chicago District located in Chicago Illinois

Duties

Perform a variety of administrative tasks to facilitate the work of the office such as accurate and timely timekeeping, preparing Requests for Personnel Actions (RPAs), preparing correspondence, and filing. First point of contact for the public for all regulatory requests. Receive, record and process requests for further action by appropriate staff. Coordinate with the requesters to gather any additional information needed to process requests. Track procurement and other funds, obligating transactions through the computerized financial management system in compliance with standard District accounting processes to ensure integrity of fiscal records. Government credit card holder for the Branch. Receive and determine the disposition of general phone, email and mail inquiries and forward to the appropriate staff. Coordinate all training for branch personnel with Work Force Management Personnel and disseminate information on new fiscal year training opportunities. Facilitate processing and approvals for training, travel orders and travel vouchers.

Specialized experience for GS-07: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 grade level in the Federal Service which includes procedural and administrative work in support of a Regulatory office by managing a high volume of incoming requests from the public and assisting project managers with final permit issuance. Receive and process regulatory requests from the public and manage actions within an electronic database such as Operation & Maintenance Business Information Link Regulatory Module (ORM) and the Regulatory Request System. Specialized Experience for GS-06: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal Service which includes experience providing entry-level support in a full range of assignments associated with administrative, clerical, personnel, procurement, budget, travel, transportation, and/or office automation. Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Budget ExecutionCustomer Service (Clerical/Technical)Technical Competence GS-07 Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06). GS-06 Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05).
