National Defense University (NDU) supports the joint warfighter by providing rigorous Joint Professional Military Education to members of the U.S. Armed Forces and select others in order to develop leaders who have the ability to operate and creatively think in an unpredictable and complex world.
Duties
Provides direct audiovisual and still photography support to assigned colleges. Direct high-quality audio, video and still photography products in studio settings.
Schedules, manages work orders by planning, organizing, directing, producing, editing various audiovisual products for NDU, transforming these ideas/visual materials into finished visual products that achieve the desired purpose and effect.
Operates, maintains audio-visual systems in large/small auditoriums, providing advice on matters that influence the basic content and aesthetic character of final projects and recognizing where projects must be adapted to function.
Manages content on digital message boards and TV service, advising on effectiveness in project requirements and for conformity to policy and programs. Assist in the day to day administration of operational, official records and critical data.
Performs various manual duties including set up/tear down of heavy equipment both inside and outside. Operates sound systems for VIP lectures and presentations. Troubleshoots as required. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade GS-09 within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required.
Specialized Experience is defined as: design and development of technology-based (interactive multi-media) presentations, hybrid print/digital projects, and animation; operating a studio teleprompter, video master control switchers, multi-channel control board, remote multi-camera control systems, live presentation control systems in support of live presentations.
Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Education
Education Requirements [Series 1071]: Graduate Education: PhD major study in photography, radio or television production, motion picture production, or other fields related to the position. Advanced training in a vocational school, technical institute, or art institute above the high school level in one of the fields listed above is creditable as general experience on a month-for-month basis. An equivalent combination of successfully completed, qualifying education and specialized experience may be used to meet total experience requirements.
SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: A Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M. may be substituted to meet the specialized experience requirement. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work. Equivalent combinations of successfully completed graduate level education and experience may be used to meet total experience requirements.
