Duties
Leads three or more workers to accomplish trades and labor work
Passes instructions on to other workers.
Ensures that needed tools and materials are available.
Sees that all workers have enough work.
Checks work in progress and completed work for compliance.
Answers workers questions regarding procedures, policies, written instructions and directions.
Provides information to supervisor on status and progress of work.
Performs a variety of tasks involved in packing and repacking non-hazardous and/or hazardous materials and items
Selects proper container and methods of packing, cushioning and following specialized packing procedures.
Examines any prepackaged items to determine whether any repacking or over-packing is required, consolidates shipments; and applies certification, identification and shipping data.
Applies a wide variety of packing methods and techniques including blocking and bracing based on the search and application of regulations covering the packing and transporting of hazardous materials.
Packs, preserves, or re-packs material or items where techniques and procedures are detailed, routine, repetitive, and/or require little or no deviation from established methods.
Performs receiving, storing, shipment, and distribution of a variety of bin supplies, materials, equipment, and commodities using material handling equipment to include fork lift, stock selectors, etc.

Qualifications
Applicants will be rated in accordance with the Office of Personnel Management Qualification Standard for Trades and Labor Occupations. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties at the level for which you are applying. Emphasis is placed on how you gained the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time, and the required ability or potential to perform the job. Applicants who do not meet the screen-out element (SOE) will be eliminated from further competition. The SOE and minimum qualifications for this position is:
Ability to Lead: I set the pace for workers to accomplish priorities and daily production in order to meet deadlines; answer work questions on procedures, policies, instructions or directives; checks progress and quality of work; reports on training requirements needed for employees; and, advises supervisor of overall work operations/problems.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
