The primary purpose of this position, Electronics Mechanic, WG-2604-10 is to install, modify, overhaul, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electronics equipment of moderate complexity or a system of limited complexity.
Duties
Install, modify, overhaul, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electronics equipment of moderate complexity or a system of limited complexity.
Set up and operate software controlled automatic test equipment (ATE) to test and troubleshoot various components and assemblies of electronic equipment.
Use and maintain hand tools such as screwdrivers, drills, wrenches, soldering, irons, and micro soldering units.
Utilize safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations and maintains a safe and clean work environment.
Document work assignments through the use of forms and computer terminals.

Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the quality level of experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C.
QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-2600 Electronic Equipment and Installation and Maintenance Family. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.
The screen out element for this position is Ability to Do the Work of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision.

PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Frequently lifts and carries, unassisted, items weighing up to 40 pounds. Sometimes required to lift and carry items weighing more than 50 pounds with the help of weight handling equipment or with assistance from other workers. The work requires frequent standing, walking, bending, crouching, reaching, and stooping. Climbing and working in high places may be required. Some work may require the aid of magnifying lenses, eye loops, and microscopes to accomplish repairs on miniature components.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Employee typically works in well-lighted, heated, and ventilated areas. Work is sometimes in high and restricted places, under conditions of heat and cold outside in inclement weather. Exposed to the possibility of electric shock; burns from electrical or RF energy or hot solder; and cuts and bruises.
