Incumbent works with a Type 1 National Interagency Support Cache system (NISC) to accomplish preventative maintenance and rebuilding of motorized emergency equipment such as portable firefighting pumps, electrical generators, and various equipment utilized in warehouse.

Duties
Use various hand tools and equipment such as motorized/hand operated wrenches, drill motors, and hydraulic press to repair small gasoline engines.
Perform metal cutting and welding procedures for fabrication work or to repair small engine powered equipment.
Use technical/parts manuals, troubleshooting guides, illustrations and testing equipment, to complete repair procedures.
Use precision measuring instruments such as calipers, dial indicators, and micrometers to measure close tolerances and clearances.
Operate equipment and makes necessary adjustments after repairs to assure equipment meets manufacturer's performance specifications.
Select tools, determine repair methods, and parts required, to carry out the work independently.
Perform diagnostic testing of pump engines, chainsaws, pumps, and generators to identify the extent of repair and refurbishment required.
Use diagnostic tools and equipment such as, meters, gauges, scanners and software to determine problem or condition.
Requirements
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or National.

Specialized Experience Requirement:
Must show the Ability to do the work of the position without more than normal supervision, performing common small engine mechanic tasks that include preventative maintenance and rebuilding/overhauling of motorized emergency equipment such as portable firefighting pumps, electrical generators, chainsaws, fire hose rollers and various equipment utilized in warehouse and fire suppression operations.
