Duties
Duties and responsibilities vary and increase according to grade level.
The following describes general responsibilities of the positions: Provides technical advisory and guidance involving the planning, design or maintenance of new construction, renovation, or maintenance of facilities.
Requirements
- Must be a US Citizen.

- Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- This position is covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA). You must be certified as an Engineering and Technical Management (ETM) Career Field Level 2. Certification is required within 24 months of appointment.
- This is a bargaining unit position.

Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the appropriate grade level below or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
GS-07: In addition to one of the basic requirements described above, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following types of duties: Completing limited tasks in support of engineering, architectural, or facilities planning designs and projects; Carrying out, interpreting, and explaining basic computations and calculations.
GS-09: In addition to one of the basic requirements described above, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following types of duties: Utilizing basic engineering or facility planning techniques, procedures, and methods; Assisting others with completing calculations supporting engineering or facilities planning projects.
GS-11: In addition to one of the basic requirements described above, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following types of duties: Researching, interpreting, and carrying out engineering or facilities planning assignments; Providing technical input on the planning, design, construction, testing, or maintenance of projects.

Education
Education may be substituted for specialized experience as follows:
GS-07: Successful completion of one full year of graduate education ~OR~ Successful completion of a bachelor's degree with superior academic achievement ~OR~ A combination of education and experience as described above that equates to one year of experience.
GS-09: Successful completion of a master's degree or equivalent graduate degree in a field of study directly related to the position being filled ~OR~ Successful completion of 2 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree or equivalent graduate degree in a field of study directly related to the position being filled ~OR~ a combination of education and experience as described above that equates to one year of specialized experience.
GS-11: Successful completion of a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in a field of study directly related to the position being filled ~OR~ Successful completion of 3 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in a field of study directly related to the position being filled ~OR~ A combination of experience and education as described above that equates to one year of specialized experience.
