Duties

The incumbent of this position will be an Equal Employment Manager, who will serve as the Director of the Office of Diversity and Equal Opportunity (DEO) for the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), Office of DEO, located within the USGS Director's Office. Some of the specific duties of this position will include:

Qualifications

For GS-15: Applicants must meet the following to qualify for the GS-15 level: One full year of specialized experience in or directly related to this position that equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of this position. To be creditable, the required specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-14 level in the Federal service. Examples of GS-14 level work include: leading, evaluating, and resolving complex EEO discrimination complaints; consulting/negotiating with senior leadership and management to identify and make recommendations to eliminate major barriers; developing EEO policy/procedures; planning and delivering a full range of EEO training; leading development of, implementing, and evaluating affirmative action plans; directing/implementing diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility (DEIA) and special emphasis programs; and leading and implementing Title VI programs, including Environmental Justice work. You must meet all qualification and eligibility requirements for the position by the closing date of the announcement.

Education

  • Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g. Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
