This position is located in the Joint Forces Headquarters-State, Logistics Directorate (G-4), Surface Maintenance Facility at CSMS#2 in Austin, Tx. The primary purpose of this position is to prepare and apply coating materials such as paints, varnishes, and rust proofing compounds on stationary and mobile equipment and on combat, tactical, and commercial vehicles.
Texas is one of 9 states with NO state income tax.
Duties
Prepares surfaces (i.e., metal, wood and glass) by removing rust, paint, and loose particles.
Prepares coating materials using guidelines set by the manufacturer, by tinting, toning, etching, blending, and mixing in various additives (i.e., retardants, hardeners, drying agents, and other additives) needed for the different coatings to work properly and achieve the necessary surface appearance.
Applies coatings using acceptable methods of the trade to include special finishing techniques to achieve desired results.
Monitors and adjusts air pressures in paint booth, controls heat settings and drying times in drying booth to achieve proper surface adhesion of coatings.
Applies Chemical Agent Reactive Coating (CARC) materials in accordance with specifications and dimensions.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Military Requirements:
This is an excepted service position that requires membership in the Texas National Guard. Applicants who are not currently a member of the Texas National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership.

Specialized Experience Required:
To qualify at the WG-09 grade level your resume must include relevant experience with beginning and ending dates of employment/experience reflecting the following:
Must have at least 18 months Experience or training which demonstrates the candidate's knowledge of any.
surface preparation and coating methods and techniques. Skill in building up, shaping, and leveling surfaces with metal and synthetic resins, plastics, and patching compounds; obtain finely smoothed surfaces with abrasive compounds, pumice, and rottenstone; even out dents and scars by burning-in processes; and treat surfaces with pre-coating agents.
