You will serve serve as a CARPENTER in the FACILITIES SUSTAINMENT DIVISION of NAVAL FACILITIES ENG COMMAND HAWAII.

Duties

You will operate woodworking machines and tools (e.g. routers, band saws, scroll saws, drill presses) to perform carpentry repairs. You will understand materials (e.g. wood, wood substitutes, glues, adhesives) to perform carpentry work. You will interpret complex instructions, sketches, blueprints, and building codes, and measures and layouts footings for structural foundations. You will plan and carry out projects from initial layout to completion.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • You will be required to possess and maintain a current valid United States drivers license.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • May be required to serve as an on-call duty mechanic on a rotational basis. An on-call duty mechanic is required to carry a duty cell phone and a duty pager and must remain available to respond on site to after-hour emergencies within two hours.
  • May be assigned to perform tasks in non-trade related fields as an assistant/helper as workload requires..

Qualifications

The Screen-out Element for this position is: I HAVE THE ABILITY TO DO THE WORK OF THE POSITION WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION. 1) Repair of wood, wood substitutes and other materials requiring close fit and structural soundness; 2) Independently lay out work materials, follow sequences of work instructions and identify special related materials needed; 3) Comply with safety building codes, objectives, and timeliness; 4) Use various power and hand tools, and woodworking equipment to make minor repairs.
