About the Position: This position is with the Army Reserve Aviation Command, Aviation Support Facility Los Alamitos West located in Los Alamitos, California.

Duties

H-60M Aircraft Qualified Train personnel in methods, techniques, and procedures of unit level flight instruction. Establish work schedules and priorities for subordinates based on workload. Plan, develop, and direct the flight operations and training activities for the Aviation Support Facility (ASF). Coordinate with Aviation Support Facility (ASF) staff to ensure the availability of mission capable aircraft to support the mission. Establish and evaluate performance standards for employees.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must possess a current first class medical certificate in accordance with FAA regulations at the time of appointment.
  • This position is subject to Drug Abuse Testing Program requirements.
  • This position requires annual medical examinations.

Basic Requirement for Supervisory Helicopter Flight Instructor: Possession of the appropriate Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) pilot certificates, and/or military rating, meeting the applicable flight hour requirements, and possession of the knowledge and skills required for the position. Flight hour information MUST in the body of the resume. Your application packet MUST include a copy of certificates/military ratings. Flight hour requirements: Total flight time - 1500 hours; Pilot in Command - 250 hours; Night flying - 75 hours; Flying Time, Last 12 months - 100 hours; Instructor time - 500 hours (Helicopter Flight Instructor). Please review the OPM qualification standard for specific flight requirements: http://www.opm.gov/qualifications/SEC-IV/B/GS2100/2181.htm Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: piloting or co-piloting rotary wing aircraft; ground and flight instruction; in-flight evaluation; planning, analyzing, or administering agency aviation programs, where the work requires primarily the application of helicopter pilot knowledge and skills. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
