Duties
Administer fire protection and prevention operations throughout the organization.
Participate in the development of construction programs assuring that state-of-the-art systems are installed and maintained.
Conduct required training programs for personnel regarding the use of firefighting equipment, firefighting techniques, rescue work, first aid,
paramedical activities, and appropriate methods of fire prevention inspections.
Develop standing operating procedures regarding responses to fire fighting and rescue operations.
Provide first response(s) to hazardous material spills and incidents.
Coordinate plans pertaining to equipment needs, staffing levels, and budgetary requirements.
Prepare personnel actions regarding new hires, promotions, awards, etc. using computerized databases.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position is subject to applicable performance and fitness provisions for firefighters in DoD 6055.SM, Occupational Medical Examinations and Surveillance Manual.
- The duties of this position meet the criteria for compliance with Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Programs. Detection of the presence of drugs is warranted.
- This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
- In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
- Position may be designated as a Key Position IAW AR 690-8. Position may not be filled by Ready Reservist.
- Incumbent may work up to a 120 hour or 112 hour pay period that includes two 24 hour shifts per-pay period and may include nights, weekends and holidays.
- The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
- Subject to completion of a one-year probationary period for assignment to supervisory (or managerial) position.
- The incumbent will be required to submit a Financial Disclosure Statement, OGE-450, (SCFR Part 2634, Subpart I USOGE, 6/08).
- OGE 450 is required IAW Executive Branch Personnel. Confidential Financial Disclosure Report is required upon entering the position and annually, IAW DoD Directive 5500-7-R, Joint Ethics Regulation, dated 23 March 2006.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1). Establish procedures to implement program requirements regarding fire prevention; 2). Review engineer plans and physical layouts to provide recommendations to prevent potential fire hazards; 3). Coordinate fire protection activities with surrounding communities to negotiate mutual support agreements; and 4). Distribute workload to ensure organizational deadlines are met.
Selective Placement Factor:
Incumbent must be certified, at the time of employment, within the Department of Defense (DOD) Firefighter Certification System, Fire Service Professional Qualifications System (FSPQS)/ProBoard, or International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC). Must have the following certifications: Fire Officer IV, Fire Inspector II, Fire Instructor II, Hazardous Material Incident Command, and Airport Firefighter. (Note: Must include copies of certifications with your application to receive further consideration.)
