This position is located the Hudson Valley VAMC - Castle Point location. The incumbent works as a supervisor over the Preventative Maintenance/Interior Design Section of Engineering Service.
Duties
Major duties include but are not limited to;
Supervises workers within the section.
Conducts surveys of all work that has been accomplished.
Verifies preventative maintenance programs are maintained.
Ability to conduct meetings with staff.
Provides training to subordinate employees.
Analyzes recommendations proposed by teams for validity and applicability for possible adoption and incorporation into the facility's business plans.
Takes corrective action related to work productivity and excessive cost.
Manages budgetary planning and purchasing for the section.
Maintains cost records, determines what parts, supplies, tools for equipment is required to accomplish the assigned mission.
Assists in determining project needs and compiles necessary data for submission to the facility.
Coordinates work projects between field and office staff.
Ability to perform duties of maintenance worker when short staffed.
Issues requisitions for supplies and materials.
Establishes deadlines, priorities, and work sequences and plans work assignments.
Adjust workloads and manpower as required to meet schedules.
Provides information to the general foreman.
Ensures that his/her subordinates are complying with all rules, regulations and operating within established time frames.
Develops and establishes a planned preventive maintenance program, maintains records and charts on all equipment, work areas and facilities, to assure that the required work is being carried out.
Establishes, develops and conducts a constant safety program ensuring that hazardous conditions are eliminated that tools and equipment are in a safe working order in accordance with existing policies and regulations.

Physical Requirements: This position requires continual standing, walking, climbing and bending. Incumbent frequently climbs ladders to roof of buildings. S/He performs heavy lifting over 50 pounds with assistance. Work will be performed inside and outside in all kinds of weather and incumbent will be exposed to dust and dirt.
