The primary purpose of this position is to install, operate, inspect, maintain, and repair electrical power production equipment and associated components and electrical distribution equipment. Perform preventive maintenance on AGE; including turbine engines, generators, maintenance stands, tow bars and fuel bowsers.
Duties
1. Installs, inspects, and performs modifications and repairs to electrical power support systems such as
electrical power plants and power distribution equipment.
2. Performs preventive maintenance on all AGE to include turbine engines, generators, maintenance stands,
tow bars, fuel bowsers and electrical power support systems.
3. Troubleshoots hydraulic, mechanical systems and electrical power support systems such as electrical power
plants and power distribution equipment.
4. Performs major repairs, replacements and overhaul of Aerospace Ground Equipment and components such
as diesel, multi-fuel, or gas turbine engines, and electrical accessories of the engines.
5. Conducts corrosion control inspections, identifies type of corrosion, performs corrosion prevention measures,
corrective actions when required and maintains records and documents actions. Assists other work centers
as needed.
6. Utilizes safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations and maintains a
safe and clean work environment.

- Employee may be required to work other than normal duty hours, to include evenings, weekends and/or holidays
- Shift work and emergency overtime may be required

- Selectee may be required to serve a probationary or trial period
- The work may require the employee to drive a motor vehicle up to and including a 2-1/2 ton truck. An appropriate valid driver’s license may be required for the position
- Position may require the employee to operate a forklift up to 15,000 pound capacity to move heavy power support equipment
- May be required to train/guide lower-graded (or other trades) military/civilian employees
- This position may be designated as Mission-Essential based on local conditions. Mission essential personnel report for duty at normal times when the base is closed or delayed reporting, and remain on duty during phased or early release
Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the quality level of experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C.
QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-5300 Industrial Equipment Maintenance Family. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.
