This position is in Region 1, Laboratory Services and Applied Science Division. About Region 1: EPA Region 1 (New England) This is an office-centered position*--you must physically report to the duty station stated in this announcement on a regular basis.*Work-from-home flexibilities may be authorized as described in the Benefits section.

Qualifications

We are looking for at least one year of specialized experience related to this position as described below: To qualify for the GS-07 level, you need to have at least one year of full-time experience equivalent to the GS-05 level defined as analyzing budgetary data to identify trends and/or discrepancies; and communicating financial regulations, procedures, and/or policies to internal or external audiences.- OR 1 full year of graduate level education or superior academic achievement (Superior Academic Achievement Definition) degree in an academic discipline related to this position - OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. Your answers to the online assessment will be used to evaluate your competencies in the following areas: 1) Knowledge of standard budgeting processes and systems, funding concepts, and methods of the budgetary function; 2) Skill in oral communication sufficient to provide information and assistance to management, project officers, and stakeholders; 3) Ability to interpret and apply federal financial management policies, directives, and statutes to complete assignments; 4) Skill in applying evaluative techniques to identify and analyze common budgetary and funding problems; 5) Skill in written communication; 6) Knowledge of commonly used budget practices, procedures, regulations, precedents, policies, and guides; 7) Skill in organization and time management. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
