This position is at the at the Department of Veterans Affairs, Veterans Health Administration, Erie VA Medical Center, Facilities Management Service Line, Renovations and Maintenance. The incumbent has supervisory responsibility over the work operations within the Facilities Management Service, Renovations and Maintenance section to include, but is not limited to Maintenance Mechanics and Maintenance Helpers.

Duties

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 7:00 am - 3:30 pm. Position Description Title/PD#: Maintenance Mechanic Supervisor/PD025720 Major Duties Include but not limited to: Provides technical and administrative supervision to employees; Plans, schedules and sets priorities for work assignments Balance the priorities and ensure that deadlines are met or exceeded; Reviews and analyzes records and reports of work production, costs, and equipment and staff resource utilization to evaluate progress and to control or reduce costs; Reports progress and resolution of problems in achieving goals and objectives; Establishes performance standards and evaluates the performance of subordinates, conducts performance appraisals, handles informal complaints and grievances; Initiates disciplinary action as necessary, recommends training, and approves leave of subordinate employees Performs Contracting Officers Representative (COR) duties; Oversees construction, renovations, and contracting work; Performs scheduling and layout of operations, and inspection and surveillance of materials, methods, and equipment; Reviews contracted engineers, architects, and contractor's activity plans, specifications, and cost estimates for technical adequacy; Establishes construction and renovation standards for new or unusual projects.
