This position is at the at the Department of Veterans Affairs, Veterans Health Administration, Erie VA Medical Center, Facilities Management Service Line, Renovations and Maintenance. The incumbent has supervisory responsibility over the work operations within the Facilities Management Service, Renovations and Maintenance section to include, but is not limited to Maintenance Mechanics and Maintenance Helpers.
Duties
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 7:00 am - 3:30 pm.

Major Duties Include but not limited to:
Provides technical and administrative supervision to employees;
Plans, schedules and sets priorities for work assignments
Balance the priorities and ensure that deadlines are met or exceeded;
Reviews and analyzes records and reports of work production, costs, and equipment and staff resource utilization to evaluate progress and to control or reduce costs;
Reports progress and resolution of problems in achieving goals and objectives;
Establishes performance standards and evaluates the performance of subordinates, conducts performance appraisals, handles informal complaints and grievances;
Initiates disciplinary action as necessary, recommends training, and approves leave of subordinate employees
Performs Contracting Officers Representative (COR) duties;
Oversees construction, renovations, and contracting work;
Performs scheduling and layout of operations, and inspection and surveillance of materials, methods, and equipment;
Reviews contracted engineers, architects, and contractor's activity plans, specifications, and cost estimates for technical adequacy;
Establishes construction and renovation standards for new or unusual projects.

Physical Requirements: The work requires considerable amount of standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing, and working in tiring and/or uncomfortable positions. The incumbent carries, lifts, and handles parts weighing up to 40 pounds.
Working Conditions: Covers the hazards, physical hardships, and working conditions to which workers are exposed in performing assigned work. Positions vary in such ways as the nature of the work environment; the extent to which it includes unpleasant, disagreeable, or hazardous conditions; the degree to which such conditions are experienced; the frequency and duration
