About the Position: This position is located with the U.S. Army Research and Development Center (ERDC), OPERATIONAL SCIENCE & ENG DIVISION TRAINING LANDS AND HERITAGE BRANCH.

Duties

Participate in numerous general tasks associated with field and laboratory research projects Provide support for supply procurement, equipment maintenance and inventory, and/or biological sample preparation/storage Manage data, and produce reports documenting findings. Analyze bat recordings using automated software and manual review of spectrograms Conduct acoustic and/or mist-net surveys for bats Analyze biological and ecological data for a variety of projects focused on management of threatened, endangered, at-risk and invasive species. Perform field work in remote locations and under adverse field conditions (heat, inclement weather, biting insects, etc.). Identify species from spectrograms of acoustic call recordings.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 25% of the time.
  • One year trial period may be required.

Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position. OR B. Combination of Education and Experience: Courses equivalent to a major, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: BiologyData Entry and AnalysisOral Communication Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent DB-01 (GS-04).
