You will serve as a TRAINING INSTRUCTOR in the PROGRAMS AND INDUSTRIES DEPARTMENT of NAVAL CONSOLIDATED BRIG MIRAMAR.

Duties

You will serve as head of vocational education programs for the Naval Consolidated Brig (NAVCONBRIG) advising on and evaluating education programs and needs of the prisoners population. You will develop annual goals for program improvement, revise and update program curriculum, procure textbooks, audio visual aids, supplies, materials, and other related materials. You will advise and assist correctional staff in evaluating prisoners for vocational education incentives and pre-release programs. You will enroll prisoners in vocational programs, maintain evaluations and attendance records, and other administrative reports. You will deliver classroom instruction in accordance with prepared lesson plans, assign classroom exercises, tests, projects, and homework.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Evaluating correctional institution vocational/maintenance training educational programs (e.g., wood/metal shop, welding, engine/computer repair) to determine compliance with policies and procedures; 2) Writing, maintaining, and evaluating course designs, content, and methods for non-standardized courses; 3) Liaising with internal and external agencies and industries to provide resources and guidance regarding educational programs; and 4) Using group discussion and instructional techniques to motivate students and/or prisoners with learning issues, low self-esteem and/or disadvantaged educational backgrounds. Education

In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work:

Have a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree
OR
3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree
OR
LL.M., if related
