You will serve as an IT SPECIALIST (SYSADMIN/NETWORK) in the NAVY SYSTEMS MANAGEMENT ACTIVITY.
This position is in the excepted service and does not confer competitive status.
Duties
You will provide technical support to the Chief Information Officer (CIO) for project planning, technology assessments, implementation, security engineering, and technical concept development projects.
You will advise the Chief Information Officer (CIO) on all matters concerning the technical direction, sustainment and maintenance needs of the organization's various local and wide-area networks.
You will provide technical expertise to both local and wide area network systems.
You will participate in assessing contractor performance.
You will assist with the management of security aspects of information system and perform day to day security operations.
You will serve as technical expert for computer operations advising leadership and internal teams on approach to and conduct of computer operations.
Requirements

Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least I have one year of information technology related experience in the federal service or private or public sector demonstrating the following four competencies, as defined:
1) Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: performing system reviews and analysis of new technologies/support tools and recommending changes to improve efficiency and operability. 2) Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: designing and implementing new information systems and system support tools to meet customer needs. 3) Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Brief senior leaders on critical information technology (IT) programs analysis and planning issues. 4) Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: evaluating organizational processes for continuous improvement and providing solutions to operational challenges.
In addition to my experience demonstrating the four competencies above, I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-13) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience includes duties related to the following:
Developing highly available and resilient solution architectures including systems engineering, network engineering, multi-region and multi-account design strategies with strong security.
Setting up VPN connections from hybrid-cloud and multi-site architectures.
Working with complex system networking tasks for multi-region and multi-VPC architectures.
Evaluating and identifying appropriate technology platforms including frameworks and technology stacks (Microsoft, Linux, SAP, Oracle and relevant enterprise software stacks).
Managing problem identification, system architecture definition, software specification and design, implementation, testing, customer training, and deployment of open source solutions.
