You will serve as a Pneudraulic System Work Leader in the Production Division, Sustainment Branch of NAVAL FAC ENGINEERING CMD WASH.

Duties

You will plan, organizes and lays out work from blueprints, sketches, written and oral instructions. You will work along with other workers to schedule installation, testing and maintenance of all sprinkler and fire suppression systems. You will maintain complete and accurate records and logs of all sprinkler and fire suppression systems installed, inspected and repaired. You will maintain an inventory of materials necessary to keep the various sprinkler systems in proper operating condition. You will perform appropriate test and inspections of all sprinkler and fire suppression systems under various operating conditions for proper performance and makes changes or repairs to any problems for proper performance. You will serve as the technical consultant to engineers, plant managers and safety personnel for modifications of fire suppression systems. You will have primary duties consisting of installation, maintenance, service, repair and design of the most complex and highly sophisticated sprinkler and fire suppression systems and all component parts of each.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • Successful completion of CPR training is required, Lock-out/Tag-out training required and Basic Explosive Safety Technology Training is required.
  • Physical medical examination is required for this position. Incumbent must be medically qualified to wear a respirator. Also, the incumbent is subject to periodic vision and hearing testing is required.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • Subject to mandatory call back to duty at any hour of the day or night to restore critical equipment to proper operating condition to perform work essential to the activity.
  • This position has been designated as a tested drug position (TDP) for the Drug-Free Workplace Program. As such, the incumbent will be subject to initial screening and periodic drug testing.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: Diagnosing, repairing, and testing hydraulic and pneumatic components (e.g., sprinkler and fire suppression systems) based on pneumatic, hydraulic, and basic mechanical and electrical principles.
