About the Position: This is a standard generic position description to be used by throughout the Financial Management Community at various duty locations. This position description describes the various duties and responsibilities of technical in support of accounting, budget, and other related financial management work.

Duties
Requires a basic understanding of accounting systems, policies, and procedures to examine.
Position requires technical work in support of the receipt, disbursement, examination, deposit and custody of cash items which includes handling cash items or use of cash accountability control methods.
Determine pay, payroll records maintenance and completion of reports pertaining to civilian employees of the Federal Government.
Answer requests and providing advice to employees, supervisors, staff in other financial management series and personnel specialists on pay related rules, regulations, and procedures.
Perform technician work in support of budget analysis and administration such as maintain ledgers, budget formulation, compiling, consolidating, checking and arranging funding data.
Verify and maintain and reconcile accounts and accounting data, prepare and analyze reports.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Certification Level 1: THIS IS A FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT Level 1 Certified position.
- Incumbent of this position is required to comply with all Department of Defense and Department of the Army requirements of this certification program.
- This certification requirement is a condition of employment for this position. Failure to obtain this certification within the required time may subject the incumbent to adverse action.
- This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes performing one or more of the following; reconciling or verifying financial data or payroll functions, assisting in payroll issues or inquiries, analyzing or preparing budget reports and utilizing an accounting automated software systems. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
