new students during their orientation period and coordinating vocational exploration and conduct testing.

Duties
Coordinate and implement the Career Preparation Period (CPP) plan.
Provide guidance and instruction to new students during their orientation period.
Coordinate vocational exploration and administer the Testing of Adult Basic Education (TABE) for the center.
Team Lead.
Promote the development of positive social skills among students through modeling appropriate behavior, positive intervention, and positively
intervening and teaching appropriate employability skills for workplace success.
Assist primary instructors and plan, organize and conduct limited instruction.
Requirements
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or National.
- Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service or exempt.

- Successful completion of one-year probationary period, unless previously served.

Qualifications

Specialized Experience Requirement:
For the GS-9: You must have one year specialized experience equivalent to the GS-8 in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as the majority of the following: advising staff and students of training options and availability; compiling and preparing training material; assisting instructors with the planning, organizing and instruction during orientation period; providing technical advice, recommendations, and assistance concerning training needs, sources of needed training, plans to meet training needs, scheduling and presentation of training, and evaluation of training program effectiveness; and providing counseling, motivation, guidance and assistance to students with goal setting.
In service applicants can qualify with at least one year at either the next lower grade level (GS-8), or the second lower grade level (GS-7). There are no GS-8 positions in the normal line of progression in the Job Corps organization; one year of specialized experience at the second lower grade level (GS-7) will be creditable for in service applicants. For outside applicants, one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-8) is required.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
