You will serve as a MAINTENANCE MECHANIC LEADER in the Installation and Environment Division of MARINE CORPS BASE QUANTICO.
This announcement uses the Certain Personnel of the DoD direct hire authority to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
Duties
You will assign work to employees and see that required materials and tools are available to prevent lost time, and will keep ahead of employees in work preparation and planning.
You will serve as a work leader over crews of the maintenance mechanic crafts. To provide general maintenance and repair services, of utilities, appliances, building structures and associated equipment.
You will apply woodworking techniques necessary to produce items or structures that require accuracy, spacing, fit, structural soundness, and a finished appearance.
You will apply knowledge of advanced shop mathematics to plan, compute, and lay out more complex and exact projects with
features, such as arcs, tangents, and circles.
You will independently troubleshoot and repair difficult or hard to detect leaks and operating problems that require difficult or extensive repairs.
You will independently plans and completes work following the full range of accepted trade practices. Works from work orders, building plans, shop sketches, blueprints, and oral assignment instructions with little or no check during progress.

- Incumbent is required to train and/or guide lower graded employees in performance of maintenance mechanic duties.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
Qualifications
