This position is part of the Defense Human Resources Activity. The incumbent serves as a Research Scientist under the Hope Research Center (HRC) within DEOMI. The incumbent shall plan, execute, report, and publish research in support of DEOMI and the Office of the Secretary of Defense goals related to education, training, policy, nd technical transfer in support of DoD Directive 1020.02E, DoD Instructions (DoDI) 1350.02, DoDI 102.03 and DoDI 1020.05.
Duties
As a RESEARCH PSYCHOLOGIST at the GS-0180-13 some of your typical work assignments may include:
Executes behavioral science research in support of activities associated with human performance, training and education, curriculum development and evaluation, and human relations.
Serves as the specialist and advisor to other professional personnel on the application of mathematical and statistical theories and techniques.
Solves highly complex problems which have been either generated or submitted for formulation, analysis, and solution.
Assists in identifying and describing researchable topics within the DEOMI mission.
Prepares detailed research plans, and administrative and technical documentation as required.
Plans, organizes, and directs research projects studies that typically comply with higher headquarters guidance and achieves organization and customer needs.
Collects and performs analyses on both laboratory and field data, and will be responsible for assembling and supervising the execution of specific research efforts.
Performs and/or oversees data reduction and analysis.
Prepares and completes comprehensive professional written reports documenting data, results, and findings to include the reliability and validity of results in final technical reports.
Prepares and provides briefings which includes initial research approach, research effort, and results that have implications for DEOMI and the DoD.

Qualifications
You may qualify at the GS-13, if you fulfill the following qualifications:
One year of specialized experience equivalent to the grade level in the Federal service:
1. Writing and Preparing comprehensive professional reports documenting data, results, and findings to include the reliability and validity of results in final technical reports for a human relations program.
2. Developing, evaluating and interpreting test and measurement data, applying methodology of test theory, psychometric and performance measurement using qualitative or quantitative methods.
3. Advising department officials in the application of industrial/organizational psychology.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
In addition to meeting qualifications, your application package must reflect the applicable experience to meet the Individual Occupational Requirements for the 0180 series.
Degree: major or equivalent in psychology for all specializations except clinical psychology and counseling psychology.
These two specializations have additional educational requirements, as stated below:
Clinical psychology: For positions at grades GS-11 and above, satisfactory completion of all the requirements for the doctoral degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) directly related to full professional work in clinical psychology is required.
Counseling psychology: For positions at grades GS-9 and above, satisfactory completion of 2 full academic years of graduate study directly related to professional work in counseling psychology, or satisfactory completion in an accredited educational institution of all the requirements for a master's degree directly related to counseling psychology is required.
