The purpose of this position is to serve as the supervisor of the daily food service operation. Incumbent is responsible for management and supervision of purchasing, preparation, service, and safety and sanitation of the department. This position located at the Dietary Department Chinle Service Unit, Chinle, Arizona.
Duties
Supervises cooks, food service worker, and cash clerk.
Responsible for overall supervision, and operation of the food production area.
Prepares, and cooks a variety of menu items.
Maintains current file of Material Safety Data Sheets.
Ensures there is an adequate supply of subsistence, supplies, and equipment.
Attends all mandatory trainings.
Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
WS6: Your resume must demonstrate Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSA) equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: planning and managing a large kitchen operation requiring training of and supervision over cooks and other food service workers in an institutional setting (i.e., schools, hospitals, or cafeterias). Monitors and evaluates staff performance, providing guidance and corrective action(s). Addresses staff concerns based on facts and following labor management agreement and established personnel rules and regulations. Provides high quality customer service to internal and external customers. Communicates with Registered Dietician on meal nutritional needs and communicates any changes to subordinates. Oversees department budget and meal collections for reporting purposes. Determines staffing levels needed to maintain a high-quality food service program for customers. Sets annual department goals and objectives that are in alignment with the CSU & IHS Strategic Plan. Maintains department readiness for hospital accreditation surveys and Navajo Nation food survey inspections.

Time In Grade
Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).
