This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, Coast Guard Academy, Facilities Engineering Division, Public Works, New London, CT.
Duties
You will perform as a plumber in the Mechanical Shop, Public Works, Facilities Engineering Division, installing new, as well as modifying and repairing existing, plumbing supply and disposal systems.Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include: - Working from building plans, blueprints, and sketches in planning of the routing, placement slant, slope, fall and proper operation of equipment and systems.- Installing, repairing and modifying systems by locating and tapping into main lines, planning system routes, locating and cutting route opening, and installing hangers for proper slope.- Determining and installing valves, traps, and unions needed for proper operation of systems.- Testing and making needed adjustment to systems and equipment to ensure proper operations, flow, drainage, and sanitary conditions.- Installing, operating, and modifying various supply, disposal, and utility systems and equipment such as water, gas, sprinklers, hot water tanks, toilets, urinals, water coolers, etc.

- U.S. Citizenship is required.
- Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
- Applicant is required to meet the physical requirements of the position.
- The position requires a valid state driver's license.
- This position requires a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI).
