Duties

Performs a variety of routine manual tasks in a kitchen or dining area following established procedures. Prepares food by sorting, washing, peeling, and cutting fresh fruit and vegetables. Clean kitchen equipment such as worktables, sinks and refrigerators. Separates food waste and trash from dishes, glasses, and silverware. Loads and operate dishwashers. Stores cleaned dishes, glasses and silverware. Sets up glasses, silverware, dishes, trays, napkins, condiments, and cold menu items such as salads, desserts, bread, and cold beverages on a serving line or tables. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
• A one year probationary period may be required.
• Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
• Required to complete a medical examination within 30 days of hire.
• Incumbent must be able to lift and move items weighing up to 20 pounds.
• Must be willing to work an occasional rotating shift to include weekend and/or holiday shift as needed based on mission needs.
• Incumbent may also be required to complete a Tier 1 background investigation for a Common Access Card for physical access to federally-controlled facilities.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS: Ability to understand and follow oral instructions and do simple tasks that are easy to learn. SKILL AND KNOWLEDGE: Must have knowledge of basic food handling techniques, personal hygiene standards and safe work procedures. Must have the ability to perform routine manual tasks involving few steps, and be able to read and understand written material. Must have knowledge of basic arithmetic such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, and decimals.
