THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.
This National Guard position is for a SECURITY SPECIALIST (UNIT DEPLOYMENT MANAGER) (TITLE 32), Position Description Number D2163000 and is part of the FL 125th FW, National Guard.
Duties
As a Security Specialist (Unit Deployment Manager), GS-0080-09, you will direct, obtain, maintain, and provide for proper usage of Security Forces equipment in order to meet unit objectives. Tracks operational and performance data on tools and equipment to provide feedback for appropriate activity. Ensures timely calibration of equipment. Maintains liaison with interservice, Air Force, MAJCOM, and other agencies to ensure proper acquisition, use, and maintenance of major equipment items required to support the unit. Plans for the use of physical security equipment, ensuring the most efficient and economical combination of manpower and equipment. Implements DoD, USAF, and MAJCOM policies and plans. Coordinate and monitor short- and long-term equipment requirements. Ensure personnel are properly trained on various types of security equipment operation, care, and maintenance. Review and analyze equipment utilization and failure rates, repair and replacement costs, as well as technological advancements. Manage SF equipment accounts and requisitions all materials, equipment, and services necessary to support the function, to include self-help projects. Receive requests for security equipment, determines need and justification, reviews appropriate directives and other source material, obtains ordering information and authorization, and prepares any required forms and conducts follow-up coordination. Prepares briefings through the review of resources management reports and inventories to advise leadership of the resource situation as it affects the unit mission. Keeps the commander informed on the status of all assigned and forecasted weapons, vehicles, equipment, and supplies.
Requirements

- This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.
- Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
- Security Clearance requirements are determined by position and/or MOS/AFSC compatibility.
- Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
- May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
- Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
Qualifications
AREA OF CONSIDERATION: This position is in the Excepted Federal Civil Service "under the authority of 32 U.S.C. 709", and is open to Category 1: All permanent/indefinite (T32 and T5) technicians employed by the agency Category 3: All current military members of the Florida National Guard; and Category 4: All individuals who qualify for membership in the Florida National Guard and are willing to become T32 Dual Status technicians.
PCS: Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs, Recruitment or Relocation Incentive MAY be authorized. Authorization for payment of PCS expenses, Recruitment or Relocation Incentive will be granted ONLY after determination is made that payment is in the best interest of the Florida National Guard.
FLNG BUS Code 8888: This position is "excluded" and ineligible for labor organization representation.
MILITARY GRADES: Enlisted, E5 - E6
TEMPORARY PROMOTION- For Title 32 selectees only: This is an obligated position (incumbent is on a military tour). If a permanent employee in the Title 32 excepted civil service accepts this position, he/she will retain their permanent status AND return to their previous Title 32 position once incumbent returns from military duty. If the military tour member, who has reemployment rights to this position, does not exercise his/her reemployment rights within 5 years, the selected individual may remain in this position without further competition.
INDEFINITE APPOINTMENT-For Current Title 5 selectees only: This is an obligated position (incumbent is on a military tour). If an on-board individual employed in the Title 5 excepted civil service accepts this position, he/she will receive an indefinite appointment (Tenure 3). If a Reduction-In-Force occurs and/or the military tour member exercises reemployment rights to this position, the indefinite appointee will have no reemployment rights to any other position and may be separated. If the military tour member, having reemployment rights to this position, does not exercise his/her rights within 5 years, this position may be converted to a permanent status without further competition.

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must have experience in collecting and analyzing data effectively, efficiently, and accurately. Able to apply procedures and directives by reading and interpreting technical material. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively orally and in writing, using presentation and report formats. Demonstrated ability to follow directions, to read, understand, and retain a variety of instructions, regulations, and procedures. Learned ability to assess the surrounding environment to recognize immediate risk levels. Must have the education and validated understanding of the basic principles and concepts of the occupational series and grade for one of the seven organizational program disciplines and its applicable Security Series career.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: GS09 must have at least 1 year experience in logistics management principles, organizational theory, and techniques of analysis and evaluation; experience in standardized logistics practices and procedures to conduct studies to identify, analyze, and recommend solutions to problems in structure, staffing, procedures, work processes or workload distribution; experience and skill in applying analytical and evaluative techniques to the identification, consideration, and resolution of program related issues and problems; experience in supply regulations and directives sufficient to establish organizational logistics management policies and procedures; experience of required logistical actions sufficient to develop and maintain training support and deployment plans; experience in local supply and SF requirements to ensure support for materials.

In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:
Successful completion of a master's or equivalent graduate degree
or
2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree
