This National Guard position is for a COMPUTER ASSISTANT (TITLE 32), Position Description Number D1074000 and is part of the OR AASF 2, National Guard.

Duties

As a COMPUTER ASSISTANT (TITLE 32), GS-0335-5/7/9, this position is located in the Logistics function of an Army National Guard (ARNG) Army Aviation Support Facility (AASF)/Aviation Classification Repair Activity Depot (AVCRAD). The purpose of the position is to administer and maintain systems (such as the Aviation Computer Network, ACN) at the AASF. Position provides guidance to users in the daily operation and maintenance of the ULLS-A system and serves as the point of contact between the AASF and external supporting organizations (e.g., Combat Service Support Automation Management Office AVCRAD, National Guard). 1. Creates local modifications to the STAMIS system. Modifications within and among systems are created to provide for the communication of data between testing platforms and the STAMIS system. Results are used to ensure the timely and accurate exchange of maintenance, supply and operational data between individual aircraft laptop computers and the Local Area Network (LAN). Works with multiple operating systems with guidelines that are not always specific or may not exist. Monitors the transfer of data between aircraft laptops and LAN computers to ensure data integrity is maintained. Monitors data back-up systems. 2. Ensures data and data files are accurately entered into a system through the Local Area Network (LAN). Monitors database files from outside sources (e.g., inspection master files, component master files and reportable item files) to ensure data integrity and applicability. Restores deleted data files as necessary. Utilizes Standing Operating Procedures (SOP's) in the event of system failure. 3. Troubleshoots common or recurring problems experienced by laptop users. Creates database inquiries to access local information stored in the system. Assists AASF users in preparing locally designed reports. Creates, edits and saves database queries. Prioritizes work and necessary repair actions to ensure operating systems function correctly. 4. Ensures reports accurately reflect individual aircraft status. Oversees AMSS processes for daily recording and reporting of aircraft/subsystem readiness and end-of-period reports. Maintains and updates unit parameters and aircraft/weapon systems authorization files to ensure calculated readiness rates are available. 5. Serves as the Terminal Area Security Officer (TASO) with security oversight over AASF system components. Manages network security protection mechanisms. Assigns, secures, stores, and maintains user IDs, passwords and controls individual and group access to the system. Provides advice and recommendations for using and safeguarding data and resources against unauthorized disclosure, modification, access, use, destruction or denial of service. Trains or works with personnel on system changes and procedures. Prepares presentations, utilizing computer programs, as required. 6. Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Compatible Military MOS Assignments: Enlisted – 15, 91A, 91E, 91X, 92A, 92Y, 92Z, 94E, 94R, 25B, 25U. Warrant – 151A, 255A.
  • Military Grades: Enlisted members and Warrant Officers.

Qualifications

Areas of Consideration: Area 1 - Current permanent and indefinite T32 technicians of the Oregon ARNG. Area 2 - Current permanent and indefinite T5 employees of the Oregon ARNG. Area 3 - Current service members in the Oregon ARNG. Area 4 - Individuals in the active duty Army, Army Reserve or Army National Guard. Area 5 - US Citizens eligible to meet the military requirements for membership in the Oregon ARNG. GENERAL and SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Work involving the performance or supervision of data processing support and services functions for users of computer systems. Experience, training, or education which demonstrates the applicants ability to follow directions, procedures, or systematic work methods which gives evidence of the candidates ability to perform this work. Experience using computer and automation systems. GS-05 - A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-04 level in duties that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. OR B. Four years above high School. Education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work. OR C. A combination of Experience as described in "A" above and Education as described in "B" above. GS-07 - One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 level in duties that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. GS-09 - One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 level in duties that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled.
