THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a AIRCRAFT SURVIVAL AND FLIGHT EQUIPMENT REPAIRER (TITLE 32), Position Description Number D1992000 and is part of the FL AASF 2, National Guard.

Duties

As a, AIRCRAFT SURVIVAL FLIGHT EQUIPMENT REPAIRER, WG-4818-10, you will inspect, test, certify, repair, assemble and maintain ALSE to include aircraft/aircrew electronic communications equipment, and aircraft-oxygen related items, aircraft modular survival system, life preservers, helicopter emergency egress devices, first aid kits and microclimate cooling vests. Equipment also includes helmets and helmet-mounted devices such as: laser eye protection, nuclear flash-blindness goggles and night vision goggles; and heads up displays; survival kits and survival components to include radios, beacons, strobe lights, pyrotechnics and various other survival items. Issues, fits and adjusts ALSE. Schedules and maintains inspection and accountability documentation on ALSE and weapons. Inspects and maintains stock of medications necessary in survival vests, survival kits and first aid kits. Maintains documentation of all procedures conducted. Performs ALSE supply functions to include maintenance and records of Bench Stock/ Shop Stock, Prescribed Load Lists, Operational Load Lists, sensitive items and Class VIII supply items. PHYSICAL EFFORT: Work is usually completed while standing or sitting and may be for extended periods of time. Considerable amount of stooping, bending, or kneeling is necessary as well as working in cramped areas and on ladders and scaffolds. Frequently lifts and carries items weighing up to 50 pounds and occasionally lifts heavier items with assistance. WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is primarily in adequately heated, lighted, and ventilated shops. Occasional work outside is necessary and may be performed under complex conditions and or mission constraints to include extreme weather conditions, night operations, etc. Such work may be performed on the flight line or during field training events. Hazards include eye, respiratory, explosive items, and skin irritation from adhesives, solvents, silicones and epoxies, oxygen, oxidizers and lithium batteries. The incumbent is frequently exposed to the possibility of cuts, bruises, punctures, and abrasions from handling sharp tools and electrical shock when testing components. The incumbent is subject to a moderate amount of noise and vibration from tools and machines.

Qualifications

AREA OF CONSIDERATION: This position is in the Excepted Federal Civil Service "under the authority of 32 U.S.C. 709" and is open ONLY to ON BOARD excepted permanent/indefinite (T32 and T5) technicians employed by the Florida National Guard. PCS: Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs, Recruitment or Relocation Incentive MAY be authorized. Authorization for payment of PCS expenses, Recruitment or Relocation Incentive will be granted ONLY after determination is made that payment is in the best interest of the Florida National Guard. FLARNG BUS Code NG5022: This position is "included" in the bargaining unit and eligible for labor organization representation. Military Grades: Enlisted- E1 thru E5 GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must have experience or training which demonstrates the applicants knowledge of materials and equipment used in the line of work (helmets, torso harness assemblies, parachutes, survival equipment). Ability to understand written instructions and to use reference materials and manuals. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: WG-10 must have 1-year of experience comparable in scope and responsibility to next lower grade in the Federal Service (obtained in either the public or private sector), which has demonstrated knowledge of aviation life support equipment. Experience reading and interpreting military manuals. Experience in supply procedures and property accountability. Experience collecting information and presenting it to various sized groups. Experience in planning a functional shop maintenance program is essential.
