Duties

Joining Customs & Border Protection will allow you to use your expertise to analyze and advise management on a wide range of program activities which will impact the total Customs Agency. This position starts at a salary of $101,996.00 (GS-13, Step 1) to $132,593.00 (GS-13, Step 10) with promotion potential to $132,593 (GS-13 Step 10). Typical work duties include: Directs, implements, coordinates, and overseas a major segment of an agency-wide mission or administrative program. Provides advice to managers, and develops and evaluates policies in assigned program areas. Develops and evaluates policies in assigned program areas, takes or recommends actions to achieve organizational objectives and recommends future program improvements. Provides technical assistance and direct support to management staff in all matters relating to the application of planning systems and management program to meet mission requirements. Plans, develops and coordinates planning management through briefings, presentations and conference for executive management. Represents OFO interests in sensitive Mission Support issues, such as the performance management system, labor/employee relations, or similar programs. Analyze management information requirements to develop program or administrative reporting systems including the systems specifications, data gathering, and analytical techniques, and systems evaluation methodology.

Experience: You qualify for the GS-13 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Supporting development and evaluation of policies in assigned program areas; Providing technical assistance and directing support to management staff in a variety of matters, relating to the application of planning systems and management programs to meet the mission support requirements; Assisting with statistical research and performance measurement, information systems, management techniques and theories, organizational structure planning, and control systems, policy, and other programs; Interpreting regulations and applying new methods to work processes. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. You must: Meet all qualification requirements, including education if applicable to this position, subject to verification at any stage of the application process; and Meet all applicable Time in Grade requirements (current federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent grade band in the federal service) by 11/08/2023.
