About the Position: This position is located in the Office of the Chief of Staff at Ft. Leonard Wood, MO. Ft. Wood is located in the beautiful South-Central Missouri Ozarks. The Fort covers more than 61,000 acres and is located in Pulaski County, Missouri. Bordering the installation to the North are the towns of Waynesville/St. Robert and Interstate 44. St. Louis is a 2 hour drive to the East along I-44 and Springfield is a little more than an hour's drive to the West of Fort Leonard Wood.

Duties

Serves as Chief, Information Technology Support Services Division of the Maneuver Support Center of Excellence (MSCoE) G6, Fort Leonard Wood, MO. Assists in determining resources, assets, and effectiveness of support provided the users; establishes operating policies (i.e., administrative, personnel, logistics. funding and budgeting). Evaluates, designs, develops, and implements systems software, database software, and educational systems. Plans and delivers Information Technology (IT) service to Maneuver Support Center of Excellence training support Mission Partners across all operations. Provides oversight over classroom technologies and scheduling. Researches, plans and develops appropriate network, security architectures. Plans and manages installation, testing, operation, troubleshooting and maintenance of hardware and software systems, video teleconferencing (VTC) and digital display systems. Performs as Information Assurance Security Officer (IASO) in the field of IT security with an emphasis on policies, procedures, methods and best practices for the physical protection of Federal IT resources. Incumbent will also be involved with IT personnel security and ensuring that Federal and contractor personnel in the IT area have the appropriate clearances. Assists with Life Cycle Replacement of old IT equipment; and coordinates with organizations for installation of new/upgrade. Keeps organization Property Book holder informed. Works with NETCOM Information Assurance and G2 information technology experts circumvent security incidents. Applies encryption and security techniques to resolve vulnerabilities and other network shortcomings. Responsible for the CRESTRON Programming System. Provides information service and administers all automation contracts and services with purchasing and contracting to ensure proper compliance with DA regulations and assurance of desired results.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the employee to occasionally travel away from the normal duty station - 10%.
  • Incumbent will have to pass a pre-employment physical to meet Physical Efforts requirements. This position may require an annual physical or medical surveillance examination. Incumbent must possess the ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • This is an inclement weather position. The incumbent is expected to make every attempt to report for duty on time and/or remain on duty during inclement weather conditions.
  • Incumbent may be required to perform call duties; work overtime to include weekends and federal holidays, out of cycle, or unscheduled training or on an emergency basis.
  • The work will require the incumbent to work evenings/nights; rotating shifts, extended hours or other schedules.
  • Although some work is sedentary, work conditions such as ergonomic issues related to lifting and carrying, seating, or video display terminals; repetitive motion injury from using computers, and the like are expected.
  • Maintain working cellular and/or home telephone at all times.
  • Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain IAT Level II certifications per DoD Directive 8570.1-M, AR 25-2, and as detailed in the Information Assurance (IA) Training and Certification Best Business Practice (BBP).
  • Failure to satisfactorily obtain and maintain updated certifications in accordance with the listed publications are grounds for termination.
  • Required to possess a valid passenger vehicle license and to operate a passenger vehicle for purpose of inspecting and troubleshooting network problems.
  • Required to satisfactorily complete the appropriate training and obtain the required certification/recertification for this position as outlined in DoD Publication 8570.01-M Information Assurance Workforce Improvement Program.

  • Personnel assigned to this position must obtain the appropriate certification within six months of being assigned.
  • This position is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) subject to applicant testing and random drug testing.
  • Applicants tentatively selected for appointment to this position will participate in drug urinalysis testing, unless currently occupying a TDP within the Department of Defense.
  • Tentatively selected applicants will be required to sign DA Form 5019, requiring participation in random drug testing as a condition of employment.
  • Incumbent is required to submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450, upon entering the position and annually, in accordance with DoD Directive 5500-7-R, Joint Ethics Regulation, dated 17-Nov-2011.
