You will serve as a WATER TREATMENT PLANT OPERATOR SUPERVISOR in the INSTALLATION FACILITIES & ENVIRONMENT DIVISION of MARINE CORPS BASE QUANTICO.
This announcement uses the Certain Personnel of the DoD direct hire authority to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
Duties
You will plan use of personnel, equipment, facilities, and materials on a week-to-week, month-to-month or project-by-project basis.
You will establish deadlines, priorities, and work sequences, and plan work assignments based on general work schedules, methods, and policies set by higher level supervisor.
You will direct , operate and maintain a variety of filtration and circulation systems, chemical systems and all associated equipment to maintain proper water chemistry standards.
You will provide technical direction for scheduled or unscheduled backwashing procedures of water treatment filtration systems due to pressure differentials or contamination.
You will determine corrective actions to be take based on chemical test results and/or visual inspections of water clarity.
Requirements

- Must possess and maintain an appropriate Virginia State Water Treatment Plant Operator Class II Certification by the American Boards of Certification (ABC) or equivalent.
- You will be required to possess and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.
- This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
- This position is considered Key. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support of the expeditionary requirements in other than combat or combat support situations.
- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- The incumbent is required, to train and/or guide lower graded employees in the performance of duties.
