This position will be assigned to the ITT section of the Eielson AFB Outdoor Recreation program. Your adventurous spirit and friendly customer service will encourage people to purchase tickets and tours throughout Alaska and more! Outdoor Recreation organizes and executes outdoor events for all to enjoy, including hiking, white water rafting, snow machine rides, cross country skiing, dog mushing, ice fishing and much more. Must be 18+ years of age.

Duties

Performs commercial reservations, ticketing services for airlines, hotels, cruises, vehicles, tour packages, amusement parks and other related recreation trips for customers. Provides clear and accurate guidance and coordination of leisure travel information and referral services for both individual and group customers. Performs local tours as guide and/or driver (15 passenger van). Assists in the development of group tours for advertisement to the base populace through Information Ticket and Travel (ITT) brochures. Assists in providing accurate and timely information on trips, tickets, and other travel opportunities to the Marketing Office for publication and news release. Assists the Outdoor Recreation Director with off base recreational facilities and attractions to ensure a wide variety of tickets are available and meet the desires of the base population. Keeps proper inventory levels of all area attraction tickets, booklets, flyers, etc. needed. Records ticket sales and inventory for consignment and prepaid tickets. Collects money, makes change, and ensures that sales are properly recorded. Issues receipts of all sales. Responsible for opening and closing procedures. Prepares daily activity report. Performs general clerical work. Maintains current brochure stock and informational material and ensures marquees, posters, etc. are current and of neat appearance. Proper protection of all NAFI property, funds, and procedures will be always enforced. Works under the supervision of Outdoor Recreation Director who provides guidance when performing new or procedurally complex duties. Performs other related duties as assigned. Requirements

  • This position requires the incumbent to complete a background investigation with favorable results.

Qualifications

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Qualifying Experience: Progressive experience in coordinating travel arrangements, packages, condo, car, cruises, and airline reservation required. Must have experience utilizing general travel systems or program software. Customer service experience is required. Applicant must have experience in customer service and cash handling and be able to maintain accountability and keep record of inventory.

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.
