Duties

Position Description #D1257000 This position is located in the Joint Forces Headquarters-State, Logistics Directorate (J-4/G-4), State Surface Maintenance Management Office. The purpose of this position is to provide instruction and assistance to state unit personnel regarding Army National Guard (ARNG) equipment and maintenance management. Knowledge of the principles, concepts, and methods of equipment maintenance and management of a variety of ARNG equipment is required. Performs other duties as assigned. Description of Duties -Serves as a recognized authority on the repair and operation of various types of ARNG equipment. -Provides advice, assistance, and guidance regarding maintenance management systems, material readiness programs, cost reduction programs, and maintenance shop practices in maintenance facilities. -Prepares and conducts both classroom and on-the-job training designed to upgrade, improve, and/or update the knowledge and working skills of unit maintenance personnel. - Evaluates directives to ensure adherence to standard methods, conformity in maintenance procedures, and the proper use of maintenance equipment, facilities, and personnel. Recommends policy, procedure, or operation changes, as required, to facilitate and ensure efficiency in maintenance operations and manpower utilization. -Reviews the effectiveness and efficiency of equipment and maintenance management and needs for improvement of existing practices and the impact on the overall maintenance program.

• This is an excepted service position that requires membership in military assignment in WV's National Guard, and is required prior to the effective date of placement.
• Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
• Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
• Male applicants born after 12/31/1959 and are required to register under the Military Selective Service Act, the Defense Authorization Act of 1986 requires that you be registered, or you are not eligible for appointment in this agency.
• Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
• May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
• Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
• U.S. Citizenship is required.
• Required to obtain and maintain a satisfactory security clearance, AND, as a minimum, a completed National Agency Check (NAC) prior to assignment.

MINIMUM MILITARY GRADE: E-5 MAXIMUM MILITARY GRADE: (WO1-WO5)(O1-O3) Your rank MUST be included somewhere within your resume. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS : Experience, education, or training which has provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more classes of equipment. The experience must include knowledge of standard shop terminology. A basic knowledge of mechanical principles relating to equipment. Experience must demonstrate the ability to read and interpret blue prints and technical publications. Knowledge is of the type gained from technical training, education, and experience in functions such as repairing, overhauling, maintaining, constructing, or inspecting equipment. Experience using computer and automation systems. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE - Must have at least 24 months experience, education or training which provided knowledge and skill in applying principles, concepts, and methods of equipment design. Experience in the use of tools and test equipment. Experience developing, installing, inspecting or revising equipment maintenance programs and techniques.
