These positions are part of the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) Student Volunteer Program. The purpose of these positions is to provide students the opportunity to learn about the NLRB, gain valuable on the job work experience by exposing them to the full-range of the Agency's legal practices, and if desired, earn credit towards their degree for their volunteer service. Duties

As a Student Volunteer, your typical work assignments may include: · Conducting Legal Research; · Assisting with Conducting Unfair Labor Practice Investigations; · Assisting with Conducting Union Elections; · Interpreting Case Law; · Performing Case Evaluation; · Preparing and Presenting Reports of Findings; · Preparing Disposition Letters and Memorandums; · Presenting Oral and Written Reports of Cases; · Organizing, Analyzing, and Managing Case Files; · Providing General Administrative Support;

Requirements

  • Must be at least 16 years old.
  • Must be enrolled at least part-time at an accredited academic institution.
  • Must maintain status as a current student during your volunteer service.
  • Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Must be able to successfully pass a background investigation.
  • Must submit a complete application package with the required documents by 11:59 PM EST on the closing date of this announcement to be considered.

Qualifications

All eligibility requirements must be met at the time of application. To be a Student Volunteer, you must meet the below eligibility requirements: 1. Be at least 16 years old; and 2. Be enrolled in or accepted to an accredited academic institution on an at least part-time basis. *A transcript showing proof of current enrollment is required to be submitted with your application package. Prior to onboarding, proof of enrollment for the semester of your volunteer service is required to verify your eligibility status as a Student.* The Ideal Candidate for Student Volunteer Legal or Field Examiner positions will have education of and/or experience with labor law/employment law. The candidate possesses strong research and writing skills to be able to conduct legal research and prepare reports of their findings. The ideal candidate has excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate both effectively orally and in writing. Experience with office automation systems (i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is desired. The Ideal Candidate for Student Volunteer Administrative Professional positions will have education of and/or experience performing a variety of administrative duties of an office. The candidate possesses analytical skills to compile and analyze charts, tables, statistical reports and other data. The ideal candidate has excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate both effectively orally and in writing. Experience with office automation systems (i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is desired.

Education

Student Volunteer Program Education Requirement
Must be currently enrolled or accepted for enrollment and seeking a degree, diploma, or certificate at an accredited college; professional, technical, vocational, or trade school; advanced degree program; or other qualifying academic institution on a full-time or part-time basis.

Education must be accredited by an accrediting institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education in order for it to be credited towards qualifications; applicant's resumes and supporting documentation should only reflect education received from schools accredited by such institutions. If you are using foreign education to meet qualification requirements, you must send a Certificate of Foreign Equivalency (a U.S. private organization's interpretation that such education has been deemed at least equivalent to conventional U.S. education programs) with your transcript in order to receive credit for that education.
