The primary purpose of this position is to conduct interviews with Family Advocacy Program (FAP) clients, administer assessment questionnaires, provide training to individuals at risk for family maltreatment, and assist other staff members in the research and evaluation of the Family Advocacy Program (FAP).
Duties
Conducts screening interviews with Family Advocacy Program (FAP) clients.
Administers assessment data collection instruments.
Participates with the FAP staff in the development and implementation of outreach and prevention, resource and. referral, and treatment programs.
Provides prevention training programs and activities for adults, newly married persons, teens, and children.
Prepares agenda for the case management team meetings, compiles statistical data, and prepares a variety of recurring reports.
Uses varied and advanced functions of word processing software to create, format, modify, edit, and print a variety of letters, reports, memos, and other textual documents.

Qualifications
Experience requirements are described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions. This qualification standard covers positions in the General Schedule that involve the performance of one-grade interval clerical and administrative support work. Due to the use of 120-day rosters, this period of experience may be completed within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants need at least one year or within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement the specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-06, level, or equivalent in other federal pay systems. Examples of qualifying specialized experience include providing training programs and activities, utilizing automated data processing systems, preparing agendas for case management teams, preparing reports. Experience with word processing software, developing an education curriculum. and knowledge in the basic methods and techniques of counseling.
FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-06 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-07 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Practical knowledge of Family Advocacy program requirements and procedures and basic methods and techniques of counseling.
2. Knowledge of word processing automation software functions to support office operations and produce a variety of textual documents, such as letters, reports, memos, and form letters.
3. Practical knowledge in developing an education curriculum with learning objectives and outcomes.
4. Skill in tactfully interviewing clients coming to the FAP office.
5. Skill in typing; a qualified typist is required.
6. Ability to work well with others in a team setting; and to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
