This National Guard position is for a HUMAN RESOURCES ASSISTANT (MILITARY), Position Description Number NGD1623000 and is part of 114 FW FSS. Title 32, Dual-Status position. *** Indefinite Tenure- May be converted to Permanent per management discretion.*** AREAS OF CONSIDERATION: All members of the South Dakota Air National Guard and those eligible to become a member.

Duties

As a HUMAN RESOURCES ASSISTANT (MILITARY), GS-0203-07, you will: This position is located within an Air National Guard Military Personnel Flight (MPF), Mission Support Group at an Air National Guard flying wing. The primary purpose is to assist a higher graded specialist in researching/studying/analyzing and administering all aspects of the assigned function(s). Performs duties in one or more program areas as described below. Incumbent identifies the scope or nature of a situation and determines the need for and obtains additional information through research of pertinent records, identifying trends and patterns, and/or review of technical reference material in order to resolve problems or controversies pertaining to human resources matters.

  • National Guard Membership is required.
  • Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
  • May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.

Qualifications

NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED:This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the National Guard. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment. MILITARY REQUIREMENTS: Selected individual must be assigned to a compatible military position in the following AFSC upon date of hire: AFSC 3F0X1. Aptitude scores can be checked on the vMPF or at the Customer Service in the Force Support Squadron and physical profile in the medical squadron. Military grade inversion within the full-time work force is not permitted. Enlisted service members up to E7 are eligible to apply. The military grade of the full time supervisor must equal or exceed the military grade of personnel supervised. GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Administrative or clerical experience, education, or training which demonstrates the candidate's ability to perform the duties of the position. Experience using computer and automation systems. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have at least 12 months experience in the interpretation and application of regulations, procedures or laws. Experience that provided a working knowledge of administrative functions. Experience performing personnel transactions. Experience working independently and setting priorities with very little supervisory control. Knowledge, Skill, and Abilities (KSAs): Applicants are strongly encouraged to submit a separate sheet(s) addressing the Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs) and how they relate to work experience, education or training. Skilled in the use of automated systems to prepare reports and correspondence required by the organization. Knowledge of administrative functions. Knowledge of personnel transactions. Skill in analyzing information, to determine its relevance, and to provide options to management/supervisors/military members regarding appropriate course of action. ** NOTE ** This is a temporary appointment with Indefinite tenure. Management reserves the right to convert this appointment to a permanent position without further competition and will discuss this option with applicants selected for interviews. Person selected for the position may be terminated at any time, upon 30-day written notice. If an On-Board, Title 5, Excepted Service Employee is selected for this position, their status will change to that of this appointment, and they will not be returned to their permanent position.
