About the Position: Serves as A lead planner within the US Army Alaska (USARAK) G-4; involved in planning and coordinating all aspects of logistics for USARAK deployments, re-deployments, unit activations/deactivations and assists with exercise/contingency operations planning as required.
Duties
Gathers, analyzes, and prepares planning data for decision and information papers, messages, briefings and statistical reports.
Prepares and briefs logistics staff estimates using the military decision making process.
Serves as the logistical subject matter expert for all exercise and contingency operations planning.
Plans, coordinates and manages the execution of logistics support for USARAK deployments, re-deployments, and unit activations/deactivations.
Provides logistics data for and helps prepare directives, warning orders, operation orders, and contingency plans in support of the USARAK mission.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance.
- Temporary travel away from primary duty station will be required (approximately 15% of time).
- May be required to deploy to potential areas of operation to coordinate and plan logistics support.
- Temporary duty (TDY) under Field Duty (5%) is required.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes providing technical advice to staff members regarding logistical matters; utilizing logistical guidance to formulate mission plans, transport supplies, equipment and/or other material in the support of exercise and contingency operations. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).
OR
Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M. in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Logistics, etc. Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.
