This position is located at the Butler VA Medical Center. The position is under the Assistant Chief Engineer. This position is the supervisor of the Plumbing, Electrical and General Maintenance Shops. The Maintenance Supervisor is directly responsible for the overall operation of the Plumbing, Electric and General Maintenance Mechanic sections involving operations and functions for maintenance and repairs of the buildings and structures on VA Butler Healthcare Systems campus.

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 7:00 am - 3:30 pm
Major Duties:
Utilizes the basic framework of the Automated Engineering Management System/Medical Equipment Reporting System referred to as AMES/MERS (Work Order System) to assign maintenance and repair functions to each shop.
Establishes sequence, priority and deadlines for the performance of work operations within time frames and broad policies approved by the Assistant Chief Engineer and/or Facility Manager.
Develops coordinates, and implements maintenance operating policies, preventive maintenance and all training operations.
Initiates request for all position vacancies and future plans for needed vacancies within their department.
Receives and processes formal grievances from labor representatives, implements facilities service policies that include EEO and affirmative action.
Responsible for keeping any necessary records pertinent to the operation of their department. Incumbent is responsible for maintaining an effective recall program for emergencies, after hour problems, and changes of schedules for personnel.
Must be able to make sketches, write and interpret specifications, make mathematical computations pertaining to the trades, and have a working knowledge of the trades they directly supervise.
Promotion Potential: The selectee may be promoted to the full performance level without further competition when all regulatory, qualification, and performance requirements are met. Selection at a lower grade level does not guarantee promotion to the full performance level.

Physical Requirements: Incumbent performs all tasks without specific instructions; duties are performed without supervision since the job is based on the technical abilities of the incumbent to perform specialized duties. In most instances the incumbent is required to work independently and act as a consultant to the Facility Manager and VA Butler Healthcare Management.
Working Conditions: The incumbent will be under the Facility Management Department and reports directly to the Assistant Chief Engineer and/or the Facility Manager. Incumbent has the ability and will work independent! y as a supervisor. Incumbent performs all tasks without specific instructions; duties are performed without supervision since the job is based on the technical abilities of the incumbent to perform specialized duties. In most instances the incumbent is required to work independently and act as a consultant to the Facility Manager and VA Butler Healthcare Management. Incumbent motivates the employees under their direction to operate as an effective working unit. Incumbent will maintain optimal productivity by shifting assignments and workers as needed. Establishes the standards of work and continually tracks progress through statistical analysis to ensure the appropriate quantity and quality are maintained.
