What General Information Do I Need To Know About This Position?
This is a term appointment not to exceed 13-months with possible extensions up to a total of 4-years without further competition. Appointment to this position will not convey permanent status in the Federal service.
Salary: Per Hour $32.09 (Step 01) to $37.43 (Step 05)
NOTE: First time hires to the Federal Government are typically hired at the Step 01.
Duties
As a DRILL RIG OPERATOR within the USGS Research Drilling Program, some of your specific duties will include:
Qualifications
There is no specific length of training or experience required; however, you must be able to demonstrate the ability to perform the basic work of the position without more than normal supervision through experience shown in the written resume and responses to the job-related task statements in this announcement. To qualify for this position applicants must meet the identified screen-out element below.

Ability to lead or supervise.
I am able to perform the duties of this position listed above including but not limited to operating conventional boring drill rigs and auxiliary equipment to perform the full range of standard foundation core drilling and noncore boring operations including techniques such as: winching, removing, and setting aside drill rods, removing core from core barrels and samplers, and adjusting and controlling bit speed, pressure, water volume and velocity precisely.
