The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the Chief of Logistics, providing managerial authority over 820 Combat Operations Squadron logistics and overall Group Readiness(Vehicles, Supply and Combat Arms) supporting 820 Base Defense Group Operations.

Duties

Advises the logistical activities of 820 Combat Operations Squadron (COS). Serves as the logistics expert and advisor to the COS/CC, BDG/CC, Air Ground Operations Wing/Commander (AGOW/CC) and management authority. Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities. Represents combat operations squadron with a variety of group, wing, installation, functional area organizations, numbered air force, Major Command (MAJCOM), and Headquarters Air Force (HAF). Advises on full range of logistics operations, initiatives and special assignments to include long-term planning, functional/technical advice and guidance, and continuity of management.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Administrative and Management Positions for Logistics Management Series, 0346. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-09, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes comprehensive knowledge of logistics management operations that involve wing-level planning, coordinating, or evaluating contingency support, logistics readiness deployment and execution, support agreement and war reserve materiel management, base/expeditionary support, sustainment, redeployment, mobility bags/small arms weapons, and logistics command and control. Work requires considerable skill in applying and integrating this knowledge to plan and accomplish a variety of complex work assignments and or to identify, analyze, and resolve logistics management issues or problems; knowledge of Integrated Deployment Systems (IDS) which include logistics management information systems necessary for planning and executing deployment operations (e.g., Logistics Module (LOGMOD), Deliberate Crisis Action Planning and Execution Systems (DCAPES), Air and Space Expeditionary Force Unit Type Codes (AEF UTC) Reporting Tool. Knowledge of laws, regulations, policies, and precedents affecting deployment, base support, support agreement and war reserve material plans and programs. OR EDUCATION: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-09 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-11 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Knowledge of pertinent laws, statutes, regulations, policies, procedures, techniques and methods applicable to supply, acquisition, and contract support operations and programs. Knowledge of Supply-Chain Management (SCM) and procurement regulations, policies, procedures, techniques and methods applicable to Assigned Military Interdepartmental Purchase Request (MIPR), data system, and inventory control responsibilities. Knowledge of requirements and procedures for maintaining files of MIPR documents for spares procurement. Skill of procurement functions, operations, program requirements, and work methods. Ability to analyze data, determine the root cause of problems, develop alternatives, and make recommendations to resolve a wide variety of complex supply and acquisition related problems and issues. Ability to access and utilize supply and acquisition information and develop metrics. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
