Duties
You will use mathematical programming languages (e.g., R Project, Statistical Package for the Social Sciences [SPSS], Statistical Analysis System [SAS], Python) to design mathematical models and algorithms.
You will present recommendations regarding analytical and mathematical techniques to senior leaders.
You will identify the appropriate quantitative technique (e.g., regression analysis, mathematical programming, parametric and non-parametric analysis, decision theory) to evaluate processes, operations and resource allocation.
You will use mathematical techniques (e.g., statistical analysis, data mining, simulation, computer modeling, linear programming) to assist managers in making informed business decisions.
You will extract data from manpower and management information system (IT) databases for statistical analysis.

Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Formulating statistical methods and mathematical models (i.e., regression, classification, and/or clustering analysis) to determine results of conducted studies and simulations; 2) Performing research that identifies trends that impact business operations; and 3) Using econometric data sources and the correlations to enhance the overall performance of the organization. Education
Applicants must meet the following positive education qualifications requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Applicants must possess.
A completed bachelor's or higher degree in operations research.
OR
Successful completion of a bachelor's or higher degree with at least 24 semester hours in a combination of operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, mathematical logic, science, or subject-matter courses requiring substantial competence in college-level mathematics or statistics and at least 3 of the 24 semester hours are in calculus.
