The primary purpose of this position is to provide expertise and program management as the Installation/Wing Electronic Security System (ESS), for Intrusion Detection System (IDS), Access Control System (ACS) programs, Integrated Base Defense Security System (IBDSS), and Defense Biometrics Identification System (DBIDS) programs.
Duties
Ensures Intrusion Detection System (IDS) requirements are met for the installation's PL 1-4 resources.
Ensures Access Control System (ACS) requirements are met for the installation's PL 1-4 resources.
Exercise control over the Integrated Base Defense Security System (IBDSS).
Monitors the installation Defense Biometrics Identification System (DBIDS) program.

- The employee may be required to travel in military and/or commercial aircraft to attend required training classes to maintain the IDS, ACS, IBDSS, DBIDS, and CCTVs away from the normal duty station.
- This is a Mission-Essential position performing a Mission-Critical-Function which must continue uninterrupted after the occurrence of an emergency and continued through full resumption of all functions.
Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-07, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes applying knowledge of commonly applied security concepts, principles, and methodologies sufficient to identify and recommend corrective action for areas of resource protection vulnerability, perform effective risk assessments, perform resource protection surveys, and have effective training practices, procedures, and materials.

EDUCATION: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. NOTE: You must submit a copy of transcripts.

COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. NOTE: You must submit a copy of transcripts.
FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-07 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-09 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
Comprehensive knowledge of a broad range of security forces security systems, concepts, principles and practices including force protection, antiterrorism, resource protection, physical security, integrated base defense, OPSEC, crime prevention, and law enforcement program directives, policies, instructions, specialties, concepts, principles, requirements, technology, and practices to independently make decisions and recommendations.
Able to conduct surveys, assessments, and projects and effectively evaluate results for the management and completion of programs.
Able to read and understand written and oral directives and guidance, and skill in oral and written communication methods and techniques at various levels and venues.
Ability to effectively manage and organize various program activities and tasks, singularly and together, and familiar with Air Force and local administrative requirements.
Knowledge of security systems, practices, principles, and procedures utilized in other DOD agencies, as well as private industry, to ensure up-to-date security applications.
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
