You will serve as a Land Surveyor of NAVAL FACILITIES ENG SYSTEMS COMMAND PAC.

Duties

You will draft written explanations of technical information for audiences with various levels of understanding. You will brief management officials on matters relating to boundary land surveying and mapping. You will authorize land planning reports for realty specialists in the field. You will perform site registry reconciliation to resolve discrepancies between special areas and land parcels to real estate documentation.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: applying the concepts, principles and techniques of land surveying, including underlying mathematics and physical science, in combination with a practical knowledge of land ownership laws; preparing Real Estate maps in CAD/GIS for use in Real Estate Agreements which shows Navy and USMC land interests; preparing and negotiating statements of work and Government Estimates for contract surveys and mapping; submitting legal documents for recording in the State of Hawaii and the Marianas on behalf of the United States Navy; maintaining Cadastral Records This position has a selective placement factor that will be used to screen out ineligible candidates. The selective placement factor is: CURRENT license as a Professional Land Surveyor (PLS)/Professional Surveyor and Mapper (PSM) or equivalent in any State, territory, or the District of Columbia. Education

Basic education requirement for the GS-1373, Professional Land Surveyor Series:

Successfully completed a degree in land surveying or civil engineering with a surveying option/emphasis. The civil engineering major must have included at least 6 semester hours of surveying, 3 semester hours of land law, and 21 additional semester hours in any combination of the following: surveying, photogrammetry, geodetic surveying, geodesy, route surveying, remote sensing, cartography, survey astronomy, land information systems, computer-aided mapping, aerial photo interpretation, and survey analysis and adjustments. OR

Have a combination of experience and education as described above that equates to one year of experience. Courses equivalent to a major in land surveying or civil engineering as described in paragraph A, plus appropriate experience or additional education. OR

Possess a current registration as a land surveyor in a State, territory, or the District of Columbia obtained by written examination. My registration was obtained under conditions outlined in the National Council of Engineering Examiners (NCEE) Unified Model Law for Registration of Surveyors. Note: Applicants wishing to be considered under this provision must show evidence of registration based on successful completion of the written examinations. Registrations granted prior to adoption of a registration law with qualification requirements equivalent to the NCEE Model Law by the State, territory, or District of Columbia are not acceptable under this option. To be considered equivalent to the NCEE Model law, registration laws must include the four options listed within the NCEE Unified Model Law in the section specifying "General Requirements for Registration" as a Professional Land Surveyor
