About the Position: The incumbent is responsible for reviewing criminal justice information, conducting qualitative and compliance focused investigative assistance and other related activities in support of criminal investigations conducted by Army Law Enforcement entities.

Duties

Operate a variety of state-of-the art equipment for the scanning and electronic submission of criminal fingerprint cards to theFBI’s Next Generation Identification System. Ensure that data on fingerprint cards is complete and matches the positive identification in the appropriate investigative report. Assist in maintaining liaison with the U.S. Marshal Service National Sex Offender Targeting Center and state, territory, and tribal sex offender registries. Conduct criminal history name checks for the FBI NICS Section and 13 states. Serve as a National Crime Information Center (NCIC) coordinator responsible for the training, testing and certification of NCIC operators. Serve as a Military Protection Order (MPO) compliance assistant responsible for the timely and thorough entry of MPOs issued by Army commanders into the FBI Protection Order File.

GS-11: One year of specialized experience which includes: provide advice and assistance to personnel on a multitude of criminal justice information programs and services; utilize law enforcement organizational functions and procedures to properly answer and coordinate requests for information; conduct training on criminal justice information systems, policies, and practices; and prepare and review a variety of written reports. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Information AnalysisInformation GatheringTechnical Competence Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent. Applicants must meet all eligibility requirements and minimum qualification requirements prescribed by OPM within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.

Education

Education: Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you may qualify if your education meets the definitions below:

GS-09: Master's degree from an accredited university, or have at least 2 years of study leading to such degree related to the position, that would otherwise substitute for specialized experience. (If you select this choice, you MUST provide a copy of your official transcripts with your application to receive credit.)

GS-11: Ph. D or equivalent Doctoral degree from an accredited university, or have at least 3 years of study leading to such degree related to the position, that would otherwise substitute for specialized experience. (If you select this choice, you MUST provide a copy of your official transcripts with your application to receive credit.)

Combining Education and Experience:

GS-09: Having some specialized experience (as described in the GS-09 qualifications), but less than one year; and more than one year but less than two years of education as described in B. The total must be at least 100%.(To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of graduate education beyond one year by 18. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify.)

GS-11: Having some specialized experience (as described in the GS-11 qualifications), but less than one year; and more than two years but less than three years of education as described in B.
