About the Position: The Dallas MEPS is one of a network of 65 MEPS located nationwide and in Puerto Rico. The mission of USMEPCOM and the Dallas MEPS is to process individuals for enlistment or induction into the armed services, based on DoD-approved peacetime and mobilization standards.

Duties

Maintain applicant medical records during the examination process. Perform customer service duties and administrative office duties such as filing of paperwork and annotating logs. Screen applicants records for conducting physical examinations. Set up and perform operator-level maintenance. Monitor and maintain stock level of medical supplies used for applicant medical processing and restocks as necessary.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the employee to submit to an Influenza Vaccination.
  • Must use restrictive and protective clothing such as surgical gloves; cannot wear exposing footwear.
  • Occasional shift work (before 0600 or after 1800 hours) may be required.
  • Occasionally may be required to work Saturdays.
  • Required to submit to a blood test when hired and on a yearly basis.
  • Successful completion of applicable Military Health System (MHS) GENESIS Training is required in order to access the MHS GENESIS System with 30 days of on-boarding and/or as required.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). OR Education: A half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position, such as medical technology. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 9. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Clinical AnalysisClinical Analysis and JudgmentCustomer ServiceOral CommunicationWritten Communication Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05).
