The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a Security Specialist within the Headquarters Air Force Office of Special Investigations (AFOSI), Information Protection Office.
Duties
Incumbent serves as a Security Specialist for one or more security programs (e.g., Special Security, Personnel, Physical, Information, Industrial and their associated training requirements).
Provides oversight and direction for assigned Security Program(s) in accordance with applicable DoD and USAF directives.
Manage and Evaluates Security Programs.

- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information
(SCI).

- This position is subject to provisions of the DoD Priority Placement Program
- This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Demand Reduction Program.

- Shift work and emergency overtime may be required

Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the Administrative and Management Positions experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions,
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-11, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience include applied broad and comprehensive knowledge of security concepts, Executive Orders, Department of Defense (DoD) Directives, regulations, and manuals governing Information, Physical, Personnel and Industrial Security Programs
FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-11 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-12 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
Comprehensive knowledge of security concepts, principles, and practices to plan and implement security procedures; and to review, analyze, and resolve difficult and complex problems for a multi-functional security program (i.e., physical, industrial and information security) within the organization.
Detailed knowledge of security incident handling, to include computer incidents and incidents caused by human error and negligence.
In-depth knowledge of security classification methods, concepts, and eligibility for access to classified or sensitive information to maintain an efficient and effective security program, the ability to effectively plan, assess, monitor, and use various computer programs with diverse applications, and the ability to instruct students on a variety of topics crucial to today's Air Force, to include areas in
security management, risk assessment, force protection, and information operations.
Practical knowledge of DoD, DIA, and other Air Force missions, functions, goals, and objectives.
Ability to effectively write and orally communicate security information to various audiences, to include staff and management and the ability to interact with personnel at all levels of command in all kinds of situations, to include processing very sensitive information about personnel, handling alarm activation's, interfacing with civilian, federal, and military police forces, and keeping calm in emergency situations.
Ability to establish effective professional working relationships with coworkers, contributing to a cooperative working environment and successful accomplishment of the mission.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
