About the Position: Red River Army Depot (RRAD) is located in northeast Texas, 19 miles west of Texarkana and approximately 170 miles northeast of Dallas. RRAD is near the corners of 4 states - Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma and Texas. The depot's enormous maintenance mission includes the repair, rebuild, overhaul and conversion of tactical wheeled vehicles. Duties

Conduct statistical sampling, inspection and initial serviceability assignment actions incident to a wide variety of plant surveillance operations involving material and munitions received, stored and shipped. Operate a truck tractor pulling semi-trailer to transport all types of ammunition and explosives throughout the installation and on public highways. Receive ammunitions, components, etc. Unload material, checking for damaged containers, correct stock number, quantity, etc. Store materials according to authorized procedures and instructions for temporary and permanent locations. Prepare material for shipping or issuing, verifying material against documentation to ensure correct nomenclature, stock number, quantity, etc. Perform inspections of munitions, components, and explosives materials.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain appropriate security clearance for access to Depot Production Computer System.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315. While probationary the incumbent can be terminated with limited appeal rights.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment physical examination and an annual examination thereafter.
  • This position is classified as drug testing position, and is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
  • This position requires the employee to use personal protective equipment provided by the employer.
  • This position requires heavy lifting up to 70lbs, and occasionally over 70lbs.
  • This position is subject to the provisions of the Domestic Violence Offender Gun Ban commonly referred to as the Lautenberg Amendment.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.
  • This position requires the incumbent to possess and maintain a valid state Commercial Driver's License (CDL) to operate commercial vehicles. (NOTE: Must upload a copy of CDL to the application package)
  • This position requires the incumbent to possess and maintain a Forklift Operator License to operate forklift equipment. (NOTE: Must upload a copy of Forklift Operator License to the application package)
  • This position requires incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain the Arms, Ammunition, and Explosives Certification and screening in accordance with AR 190-11.

  • Ammo 62: Technical Transportation of Hazardous Materials in accordance with AMC-R 350-4. (NOTE: Must upload a copy of certificate to the application package)
  • This position requires incumbent to possess and maintain the Technical Transportation of Hazardous Materials certification and recertified every two years. (NOTE: Must upload a copy of certificate to the application package)
  • This position requires incumbent to possess and maintain the Military-Owned Demountable Container (MILVAN) Inspection certification, and recertified every four years. (NOTE: Must upload a copy of certificate to the application package)

I can use a variety of Ammunition Peculiar Equipment to enable safe ammunition operations such as surveillance, maintenance, and preservation of ammunition. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. You MUST submit a copy of your license or certification with your application package or you will be rated ineligible. WORKING CONDITIONS: The work is usually performed inside and outdoors which are concerned with the receipt, storage, issue, demilitarization, disposal, and shipment of ammunition items which results in exposure to adverse weather and to potentially dangerous situations. May be required to wear protective clothing.
